James F. Devine
Managing Partner
Jim is a graduate of Franklin
& Marshall College and the University of Pittsburgh
School of Law. Jim has successfully litigated workers' compensation and
employment cases since 1993. His broad range of experience allows him to
provide his clients with effective analysis of the liability risks and costs
associated with each case. Jim’s expertise extends to include the
interplay between the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave
Act, and employment law concerns surrounding discipline and discharge and drug
and alcohol abuse as they impact workers' compensation claims.
Furthermore, Jim has extensive experience defending employers in EEOC and PHRC
claims.
In addition to maintaining a full case load, Jim
is a popular speaker, lecturing throughout the year on current employment law
issues, such as discrimination, harassment, internet policies, and the
maintenance of an aging workforce. Jim also provides in-house training
for insurance carriers and specialized employers, such as hospitals, by keeping
staff updated on case law and other issues resulting from legislative updates
to the ADA,
FMLA, EFCA, HIPAA and COBRA.
Jim is passionately committed to his family and
his community, volunteering in church and youth activity leagues and serving on
boards for non-profit and healthcare facilities. Jim is an active member
of the Lancaster Bar Association, having served as chairman to the workers'
compensation section, and is currently serving on the Board of the Lancaster
Bar Association Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the Pennsylvania and
American Bar Associations as well as various trial lawyer associations. Upcoming SeminarsJim is frequently asked to speak in regional and national continuing education programs and provides in-house employee training.
