Dan concentrates his practice in workers' compensation, unemployment compensation and general employment law. Dan represents large self-insured employers, insurance carriers and third-party administrators in all aspects of workers' compensation matters. When advising clients before and during the workers' compensation litigation process, he works closely with the other members of the firm's Employment Law Group, utilizing a full service risk management approach, to ensure that his clients' overall legal liability is minimized. Dan handles workers' compensation cases throughout Pennsylvania, from the initial filing of a claim through the appellate process and settlement. His current clients include hospitals, nursing homes, long term care facilities, retirement communities, food processing companies, municipalities, manufacturers, defense contractors, metal foundries, hotels and restaurants, department stores, colleges, utilities and computer companies.
Representation of employers during the unemployment compensation process is also a major component of Dan's practice. He routinely advises clients on issues of discharge from employment, voluntary resignation, willful misconduct, policy violations, positive drug tests, absenteeism, tardiness, unsatisfactory job performance, and insubordination. Dan frequently drafts appeals from adverse Service Center Determinations, attends Referee hearings, prepares appellate briefs to the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review and argues before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
In additional to his legal practice, Dan has served as an adjunct instructor at the Lancaster Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College.
